Large corporations rearrange the deck chairs for decades but cannot see that their ship is sinking. I had an odd conversation with a beloved, highly intelligent friend a month ago who couldn’t see that my response to a framework of ideas he’d proposed was in fact a proposal to look at an even larger, deeper framework of ideas. And, then, how often do *I* fail, without even realizing it, to escape my straitjackets?

It’s hard to explain that the sameness in life, no matter how accomplished or affluent the surrounding is, can leave one feeling stagnated, restricted and dissatisfied. I agree with you, exposing oneself to something different can help broadening the base of operation. Personally, I find it easier to change or shift the base of operation completely to create progress, like changing the gear and then the lane in traffic. Living differently encourages thinking and feeling differently faster. Personally quite satisfying.
